Central Government Approves an Additional 2% Dearness Allowance from 1.1.2025: The Union Cabinet Committee has today approved an increase of an additional 2% in the Dearness Allowance for all current and retired central government employees, effective from January 1, 2025.
All employees and pensioners of the Central Government, including teachers and pensioners of Kendriya Vidyalaya, currently receive a dearness allowance of 53% of their basic pay. This allowance will increase to 55% effective from January 1, 2025.
1st Installment of DA Hike in 2025
The central government has implemented a twice-yearly increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA). The first installment is provided for the period from January to June, while the second installment is allocated from July to December each year. For the year 2025, the Union Cabinet Committee, led by Narendra Modi, has approved a 2% increase in the Dearness Allowance for all current and retired employees of the central government.
What is the total increase from a 2% DA hike?
A 2% increase in basic pay will be applied each month from January to June 2025, resulting in a total of six months of increments. This calculation will be based on the individual basic pay of each employee. An accompanying table will illustrate the increases as an example.
