Tamil Nadu Polytechnic Admission 2025-26 Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification: Applicants are required to have completed the 10th Standard (SSLC) or hold an equivalent qualification. Eligibility for admission will be granted solely to those who fulfill this criterion by 01–08–2025. A permanent community certificate for Scheduled Tribes (ST) must be obtained exclusively from the Revenue Divisional Officer (R.D.O.) of the candidate’s native division, the Collector of their respective districts, or the Personal Assistant (General) to the Collector of Chennai. Only the permanent community certificate will be accepted, and it must feature the State Gopuram Seal to be deemed valid.
There are no age restrictions in place. Individuals practicing religions other than Hinduism or Sikhism do not qualify as members of a Scheduled Caste. A Scheduled Caste individual who converts to Christianity will be categorized exclusively as a Backward Class Christian, rather than retaining their Scheduled Caste status. Conversely, a member of a Scheduled Tribe will maintain their classification regardless of any religious conversion or lineage from a convert. Candidates asserting Scheduled Caste status through re-conversion are required to furnish detailed information regarding the date of re-conversion and must demonstrate recognition by local community members as belonging to the claimed community.
Marks will be assigned according to the length of service in the relevant Engineering field. Candidates must have worked within a 90-kilometer radius of the institution to which they are seeking admission in Tamil Nadu. However, employees of Government offices and Public Sector undertakings situated in Thirunelveli and Palayamkottai are not subject to the distance criteria for admission to Government Polytechnic, Tuticorin.

Tamil Nadu Polytechnic Admission 2025-26 Selection Process
HSC/10th Standard + 2 years I.T.I. Selection Process: All applicants will be thoroughly ranked before candidates are chosen. The total score earned in the +2 exams determines the selection process.
Selection for individuals who have finished the 10th Standard and two years of I.T.I. will be determined by the sum of their qualifying exam scores, up to 10% of the authorized intake.
