Reservation in Kendriya Vidyalaya Admission 2025-26 for Class-1 and Balvatika Classes
Reservation in Kendriya Vidyalaya Admission 2025-26 PDF: The KVS has adhered to the established reservation system for admissions into Class 1 and Balvatika classes. In all new admissions across Kendriya Vidyalayas, 15% of seats are allocated for Scheduled Castes, 7.5% for Scheduled Tribes, and 27% for Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL). Additionally, from the total seats available for fresh admissions, 25% will be set aside for the Right to Education (RTE) quota, with 15% reserved for SC, 7.5% for ST, and 27% for OBC-Non-Creamy Layer.
25% of Seats Allocated for RTE Quota in 2025-26
Following the admission of students under the RTE Act of 2009, the enrollment of Children with Special Needs (CwSN) will precede the admission of children classified under Category-1. This Category-1 will encompass students from SC, ST, and OBC-NCL backgrounds. Subsequently, the admission process for Category-2 will commence, which will also include SC, ST, and OBC-NCL students, extending to Category-3 in the case of Project/IHL Schools.
The deficit in the number of candidates for seats reserved for SC, ST, and OBC-NCL will be determined by evaluating the number of SC, ST, and OBC-NCL children admitted under the RTE quota, as well as those admitted under Priority Category-1 and Category-2.

5 Lots System in KVS Admission 2025-26
The following procedure will be implemented for new admissions to Class I in Kendriya Vidyalayas:
1st Lot: A total of 10 seats (from a total of 40 seats) in Class I per section will be allocated according to the provisions of the Right to Education (RTE) Act, which accounts for 25% of the seats. These 10 seats will be filled through a lottery system from all applications submitted by SC/ST/EWS/BPL/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/CwSN candidates residing in the neighborhood.
2nd Lot: A lottery will be conducted for Children with Special Needs from the SC/ST/OBC-NCL/Unreserved categories, following the established priority categories.
3rd Lot: The remaining seats, after accounting for RTE and CwSN applicants, will be filled according to the existing priority categories of Cat-I and Cat-II (or Cat-I to Cat-III in the case of Project/IHL Kendriya Vidyalayas), up to the sanctioned capacity or until all registered candidates from Cat-1 and Cat-2 (or Cat-1 to Cat-3 for Project/IHL Kendriya Vidyalayas) have been considered.
4th Lot: The total number of SC/ST/OBC-NCL admissions will be calculated based on the summary of admissions from RTE, CwSN, Cat-1, and Cat-2 (or Cat-1 to Cat-3 for Project/IHL Kendriya Vidyalayas) completed by the third phase. Any shortfall in the reserved seats for SC/ST/OBC-NCL will be addressed by admitting SC/ST/OBC-NCL applicants according to the established admission priorities, regardless of the sanctioned strength.
5th Lot: If, after all previous processes, there are still vacant seats, applicants from Priority Cat-3 (or Cat-4 in Project/IHL Kendriya Vidyalayas) and beyond will be considered for admission based on the existing priority list for unreserved seats only. Any unfilled reserved seats for RTE/SC/ST/OBC (NCL) will remain vacant.
Final Selection: In the event that there are insufficient registered candidates to fill the remaining reserved seats, a separate advertisement will be issued by the respective Kendriya Vidyalaya according to the admission schedule, inviting offline registrations from candidates belonging to the specific reserved categories.
