Role of the Odisha Home Guard 2025
The Home Guards are regarded as supplementary to the general police force, although they hold a secondary position. They operate efficiently and are well-disciplined within their designated responsibilities, having received adequate training. The primary aims and objectives of the Home Guards include:
- Serving as an auxiliary to the police and assisting in the maintenance of internal security and law and order.
- Providing support to the community during emergencies such as air raids, fires, floods, epidemics, and similar situations.
- Maintaining operational units to deliver essential services, including motor transport, engineering and pioneer groups, fire brigades, nursing and first aid, and the management of water and power supply systems.
- Fostering communal harmony and assisting the administration in safeguarding vulnerable segments of society.
- Engaging in socio-economic and welfare initiatives such as adult education, health and hygiene promotion, and the implementation of development schemes, as well as other beneficial tasks.
- Undertaking additional assignments as directed by the Commandant of Home Guards to optimize the use of available manpower.
Odisha Recruitment 2025 Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for enrollment, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Be a citizen of India.
- Be at least 20 years old and not exceed 60 years of age as of January 1, 2025.
- Have successfully completed at least the Lower Primary (Class V) Examination.
- Possess the ability to speak, read, and write in Odia.
- Exhibit good moral character, with no pending criminal trials or convictions for any criminal offenses.
- Maintain sound health and physical fitness, free from any organic defects or bodily infirmities.
