KVS Admission Age Criteria for Class 1 and Balvatika for AY 2025-26: The age of the child is the primary criterion for admission to class 1 and Balvatika classes at Kendriya Vidyalaya, as indicated in the admission portal. If the age does not meet the eligibility requirements, the online application will automatically prevent further entries. Therefore, it is essential to verify the age and date of birth of your child to ensure eligibility for the respective classes before submitting an application on the KVS online portal for the academic year 2025-26.
Please be informed that the minimum age requirement for enrollment in Class 1 is 6 years, while the maximum permissible age is 8 years as of 01-04-2025. There is a provision for a 2-year extension of the upper age limit for candidates classified as “CwSN / Differently-Abled.” The date of birth for general candidates must fall between 01-04-2017 and 01-04-2019, whereas for differently-abled candidates, the date of birth should be between 01-04-2015 and 01-04-2019.
Age Criteria for KVS Admission 2025-26 with Birth Dates
A child must be at least 6 years old by 31st March of the academic year in which admission is requested, including those born on 1st April. The age requirements for admission to Kendriya Vidyalayas across different classes are outlined below.

It is important to note that following the adjustment of the minimum and maximum age requirements for admission to Class I for the academic year 2022–23, there will be a continued progressive modification of age limits for the relevant classes in the future.
For Children with Special Needs (CwSN), the maximum age limit may be extended by two years. Additionally, there are no age restrictions for admission to Class XI, as long as the student is applying in the same year they complete their Class X examination. Likewise, there will be no upper or lower age limits for admission to Class XII, provided that the student has maintained continuous enrollment after completing Class XI.
