KVS Online Registration for 2025-26 has concluded. What are the subsequent steps?

There are over 1,240 Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) situated throughout India, and the admissions for Class 1 and Balvatika classes 1 and 3 commenced on March 7, 2025, at 10 AM. The online registration will remain open until March 21, 2025, at 10 PM. Upon the completion of the registration process, a list of individual KV schools will be compiled and forwarded to the respective school principals. The final list of selected candidates will be posted on the notice boards of all KV schools. Parents and guardians are encouraged to verify their child’s name on the registered candidates list, which will also be available on the school website. Please note that if your child’s name does not appear on the list, they will not be eligible for the Draw of Lots scheme.

Who will conduct lottery draw in KVS for 2025-26?

Each Kendriya Vidyalaya will establish a committee responsible for conducting the offline draw of lots to select candidates from the final list of registered names. This event will take place on the school premises for classes 1, Balvatika-1, or Balvatika-3. The appointed committee will consist of five members, including two parents of the candidates. This committee should be announced with the approval of the Chairman of the VMC at least five days prior to the draw and will be posted on the School Notice Board. The selection of committee members will follow a specific procedure.

How to conduct Lottery Scheme in KVS for the AY 2025-26?

The date for the lottery event (Draw of Lots) will be publicly announced in advance on the school’s notice board, and the information will also be made available on the respective school website. Additionally, the entire event will be broadcasted on the school’s YouTube channel, allowing all parents of registered candidates to view the proceedings from the comfort of their homes. The lottery draw will be conducted by designated committee members in the presence of all candidates’ parents.

Old Offline Lottery Draw Method

The names or registration numbers of all registered candidates will be written on slips of paper or prepared as tokens, which will then be placed in a bowl and thoroughly mixed. Tokens will be drawn one at a time, with the corresponding number and name of the candidate announced. A comprehensive selection list will be compiled after all tokens have been drawn, detailing the selection number, final list number, registration number, candidate’s name, and parent’s name, among other relevant information.

New Online Lottery Draw Method in KVS

In recent years, the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has developed an integrated software system that connects all 1,256 Kendriya Vidyalaya schools online. This computer system is located in the principal’s office of each school, where only the principal is authorized to operate it and conduct the online lottery draw for selecting candidates from the applicant list. Upon clicking the ‘Conduct Lottery‘ button, the software panel will promptly reorganize the provided list.

Initially, the principal will present a demonstration of the lottery draw to enhance understanding, followed by the actual draw. The entire session will be broadcasted live on their respective YouTube channels, allowing all participants to view the event on their mobile devices. The list originally included three to four columns: Serial Number, Application Submission Code, and Candidate Names. Following the lottery draw, an additional column labeled ‘Lottery Number‘ was incorporated. This lottery number represents the selection list or merit list and is also referred to as the waiting list.
