Priority Categories for Admission to Kendriya Vidyalaya 2025-26 for Class 1 and Balvatika Classes
Priority Categories for Admission to Kendriya Vidyalaya 2025-26: The headquarters of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has issued new consolidated guidelines for admissions to all KV schools located throughout India, totaling over 1,240, for the academic year 2025-26.
Central Government Employees: A regular employee is defined as one who occupies a position sanctioned by the Government in a substantive capacity and receives remuneration from the Consolidated Fund of India. This category also encompasses individuals belonging to All India Services, such as the IAS, IPS, and IFoS.
State Government Employees: A regular employee is one who holds a position sanctioned by the State Government in a substantive capacity and receives remuneration from the Consolidated Fund of the State.
Transfer Cases: An employee is considered to be transferred only if they have been officially reassigned by the competent authority from one location or urban agglomeration to another, with a minimum distance of 20 kilometers, and must have resided at the previous location for at least six months.
Autonomous Bodies, Public Sector Undertakings: Organizations that are entirely funded by the government or where the government holds a share of 50 percent or more, or has a controlling interest, are classified as Autonomous Bodies or Public Sector Undertakings, depending on whether they are associated with the Centre or the State.
Project IHL KV: Kendriya Vidyalaya that is sponsored by a Public Sector Undertaking, Government Project, or Institute of Higher Learning, and receives both administrative and financial support from that PSU, Project, or IHL.
Kendriya Vidyalaya under the Civil and Defence Sector
The following order of priorities will be adhered to when granting admissions to Kendriya Vidyalayas under the Civil/Defence Sector:
- Children of both transferable and non-transferable Central Government employees, as well as children of ex-servicemen.
- Children of transferable and non-transferable employees of Autonomous Bodies, Public Sector Undertakings, and Institutes of Higher Learning affiliated with the Government of India.
- Children of transferable and non-transferable employees of State Government entities.
- Children of transferable and non-transferable employees of Autonomous Bodies, Public Sector Undertakings, and Institutes of Higher Learning associated with State Governments.
- Children belonging to any other category, specifically those not included in the aforementioned categories 1 to 4.
Please note that admission preference for wards will be determined by the number of transfers experienced by the parents over the past seven years.
Kendriya Vidyalaya under the Project Sector and Institutes of Higher Learning
The children of employees associated with the Project Sector or Institutes of Higher Learning that sponsor the Vidyalaya, as well as faculty members and postgraduate students engaged in long-term research projects, are eligible for admission. This also includes regular Council of Wardens (COW) employees and the children of retired employees, along with those on deputation to the relevant Project/IHL, and directly hired contractual employees. However, it is important to note that contractual staff employed through agencies, outsourcing, or third parties will not receive any preferential treatment in the admission process.
- It is essential to highlight that priority in admission will be accorded to the children of serving employees, employees on deputation, retired employees, and directly hired contractual employees by the Project/IHL, in that specific order.
- Additionally, children of both transferable and non-transferable Central Government Employees, as well as children of ex-servicemen, are included in the admission criteria.
- Furthermore, children of transferable and non-transferable employees from Autonomous Bodies, Public Sector Undertakings, and Institutes of Higher Learning under the Government of India are also eligible.
- Children of transferable and non-transferable State Government Employees, along with those from Autonomous Bodies, Public Sector Undertakings, and Institutes of Higher Learning of State Governments, are similarly considered.
- Lastly, children from any other category, specifically those not encompassed by the aforementioned categories 1 to 5, will also be eligible for admission.
- It is noteworthy that preference in admission for wards will be determined by the number of transfers their parents have undergone in the past seven years.
